Open Arena

Open Arena is a standalone mod off the Q3 engine, in fact I would say that it is pretty much a copy of Quake 3 Arena but open source. It is only in its beta stages at the moment. I tested out their latest beta 0.6.0, and to be honest I was pretty impressed with it, sure the models of the characters and weapons can sure use some improvement, but what do you expect when it is still only a beta. 0.6.0 included bots which are pretty good if you want to train up before playing online, they also randomly shout abuse at you.

I am not going to give Open Arena a full review until the first final version of it comes out so to be fair on the game. But I do highly suggest that you go to their website, and download it and give it a shot for your-self. Again like Tremulous there are Windows, Linux and Mac versions of the game, so their really is nothing to stop you from giving it ago and seeing what its like.
