Mii Buttons

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

So you have created a Mii of yourself, ever wanted to have a button that you can wear proudly to advertise your Mii, to your friends and people that you meet.

Well now you can because the people over here can create a Mii button of your Mii’s to wear. Not only is there a picture of your Mii on the button but also your Wii friend code so when you meet new people or just your friends you have easy access to your Wii friend code.

All you have to do to get a Mii button is take a good hi-res photo of your Mii, e-mail it to them and sort out your payment details.

The quality of the Mii buttons looks to be very good from the above picture supplied from their site.

GamerZines

wow_the_burning_crusade.jpg

Whilst reading my favourite gaming blog ThatGameBlog I found this very interesting article about GamerZines which is a new online magazine publisher, which allow you to download for free, flash magazines straight to your PC ready for you to read.

I had a quick flick through the PCGZine which is the PC version of their gaming magazines, and I found several very interesting articles inside that are well worth a read, the first issue for all you mad keen WoWers (who are probably to busy with BC at the moment stop and read it anyway) covers some of the changes that are taking place with Burning Crusade, or for those of us that are tech savvy and into our computer hardware, PCGZine has an article on the nVidia 8 series and weather or not it’s worth purchasing the new Directx 10 cards now.

Throughout the magazine there are of course advertisements for the latest games, and they usually have a video with them (which I could not play since I was not reading the magazine with the correct viewer). Which leads on that if you wish to properly view these magazines you need to have Adobe Reader 8 which you can download.

Gamerzines also publish magazines for the 360 and a Pro Evolution Soccer fanzine. I am hoping and expecting that a Wiizine and even a PS3Zine come out in the near future.

Become an M&M

qwerty_mnm.jpg

Whilst looking around the Internet I stumbled upon this little site. Which lets you create an M&M version of your-self.

There are many options for you to choose from when creating your M&M. You can edit the following aspects of your M&M

  • Body type
  • Body parts
  • Face
  • Face extras
  • Clothing
  • Accessories

Several of the menus have there own sub menus for example under body parts you can pick to change the arms and legs of your M&M.

After that it looks like you can take your character to several places in the M&M world, however whilst I was visiting the site I was not able to save my character as the server was having problems/busy.

I was able to check out one of the games though. Huski Ruski which is quite a simple flash game where you race against the clock down a skiing slope dodging obstacles and going through gates along the way. A very easy game if your just looking for something to fill in a few minutes.

By the looks of things you can also stick your M&M character in a film clip, however I did not get around to trying this out.

Ben Heckendorn has done yet another console mod this time one of the Wii.

He has made a Wii laptop this time and you can find info on it on his site www.benheck.com.
With links to Engadget here.
The Wii Laptop! - Engadget
I think that it is quite a good idea although how are you going to actually play Wii in close quarters. Just imagine trying to play Wii on an aircraft, or on long car trips. I am sure this would create a lot more things that you never would of thought a Wii could break.
Would be very useful for playing gamecube games portably and even Wii play, since you don’t have to make large swinging motions that you do in Wii sports.

Make sure you watch the video I love the way he treats the Gamecube game just chucking it on the desk like that, but it does show the Wii laptop working which is really cool.
But one thing for sure is that Ben Heckendorn does have “leet skills”. A great mod indeed.

The ‘how to’ for this mod is comming in a few days be sure to check engadget for it.

Big Q Review: Tremulous

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

105_thumb.jpg
Ive been playing Tremulous for quite some time now and I have to say that it is a fantastic game, that I am going to share with you.

Tremulous is a multi player game based off the Q3 engine, that has elements of both FPS and RTS woven together to create some fantastic game play. The game is basically your FPS style of game that incorporates base building to add a whole new level of game play, which is where the RTS side of the game comes in. (more on that later)

Tremulous is open-source meaning that its free software, Tremulous comes ready to download and play for Windows and Linux users with an unofficial Mac build as well (so theres nothing to stop you trying it out). It is by far the best free game that I have played and really worth trying, and being free you’ve got nothing to lose :).

Basics of the game: Tremulous is an Alien Vs Human multi player game where both teams have the single objective of killing their opponents spawns and eliminating any left over players, sounds pretty easy right? well its not always because Tremulous adds an RTS element where both teams can build upon their starting base or completely scrap it and move to a new location, this is where the fun begins.

Aliens are generally not capable of shooting with the exception of the Advanced Dragoon and advanced Granger, so to kill a human player you have to get in close for a melee attack, humans on the other hand play out the game in an FPS style incinerating enemy aliens with flamers or sawing them up with the painsaw just to name a couple of ways of destroying them. Aliens are of course not without there perks, including the ability to easily move base or setup a forward attack, and the ability to evolve to stronger versions with evolution points.

The RTS mode of the game gives you the ability to build your base up or in the case of some nuisances destroy them. The building mode is played out from within the FPS view, and anyone can build when ever they feel like which often causes potential problems, but thats all part of the fun.

Wii ranking system idea

Friday, January 19th, 2007

nintendo_wii_1.jpg
You know what I think the Wii could use, some kind of ranking system to rank high scores in the games found in Wii play and I presume the same thing could be added into WarioWare as well since it is just a whole heap of mini games.

For example of the Wii ranking system we will use Wii play and the table tennis mini game.
The first part of the table tennis game in single player mode requires you to rally the computer 100 times once that is done you can then rally against the computer for no limit, meaning you can keep going creating a high score. Now wouldn’t it be good if there was some kind of way of taking your top score and it going into a database of high scores that can be accessed from a channel within the Wii, A High scores channel or something similar that shows the top scores and everyones ranked score, (Scores ranked to Mii or the Console Wii friend code.) so you can effectively see where you are ranked in the world in a certain game. For those of us that are pro with our Wii’s and hit up into perhaps the top ten, a message can be displayed in the message board that lets the player know if they drop out of the top ten or fall rank. This would help to increase competitive play against other players on the net, if you are constantly fighting to hold the top score.

The Wii ranking system would work for a lot of the Wii games, WarioWare I believe (waiting to get it) is just a whole heap of mini games and I would think that you would be able to achieve top scores within most of the mini games, that could then be thrown into a top score database.

First week with my Wii

Friday, January 19th, 2007

nintendo_wii_1.jpg

Well after a hide and seek game tracking down a Wii that took several weeks I finally managed to pick one up, and all I can say is the Wii is awesome.

To be honest I have never been a console gamer always preferred PC gaming (with trusty wasd for FPS) but the Nintendo Wii really grabbed my attention right from when I first heard about it (back in the day of the revolution). The fact that console gaming was no-longer just a case of button pressing combos to effectively play a game. No the Wii was something far better, you actually make real-life movements with the revolutionary new controller. That was what really dragged me to it, playing tennis and actually swinging the Wii remote as if it is a tennis racket, or taking a swing like you would in a golf game. The Wii has revolutionised the way we play games making gaming far more realistic and bringing the none-gaming community together with gamers.

SG-1 Mii’s

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

So the otherday I was playing around with the Mii channel and thought that I would go ahead and make a few Mii’s of SG-1.

A couple of the Mii’s turned out good those where Daniel Jackson and Samantha Carter, however Jack and Teal’c did not work out very well.

You can find the images of the Mii’s after the jump…

Hello, and welcome to The1Qwerty.com

I tend to think of myself as a bit of a gamer who also has a keen interest in many other things that can be done with a computer (Thats right they are not just there for gaming you know :p) including things such as linux, web dev and coding (which im going to try and start getting back into with this blog pushing me along) and many other things. I also have a very keen interest in avation. But lets not dwell on my interests for to long.

What kind of things are you going to see on this blog you may ask?

Well the answer to that is all sorts and I can’t really say all of the things that are going to be on here but be sure to see some gaming news my personal gaming views and scores :) and many many other things that I can not begin to type here as many of the things that you will find here I may not of even thought of yet.

Id like to take the time to thank Sutto for sorting out this site for me (obtaining url and hosting) and mention his “Bombdiggityness” Which is truly awesome.

Thats all for now and I hope that many of you will read my blog over time and feel free to leave a comment.
