Medal Of Honour: Heroes 2 Controls

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

A great video has been posted show casing exactly how you will be controlling things in Medal of Honour Heroes 2 on the Nintendo Wii.

For those of you who have not read anything about MOHH2 it boasts 32 player online support, which will just be awesomely cool.

What else does this video do other than show case the graphics and control scheme?(the graphics appear to be very good in the video and game play also seemed to be smooth) Well it confirms that MOHH2 does support the Wii Zapper.

The expected due date for the game in AU is 7/2/2008. Dissapointing that it was delayed. The original release date was to be the 22/11/2007 so this is a huge delay for what ever reason.

Enjoy the video:

Perfect Shot

Nyko Perfect Shot

The Nyko Perfect Shot really does resemble anactual pistol, especially when compared with the “Wii Zapper” from Nintendo. It even boasts a rear slot so you can use your nunchuck or classic controller.

Itisfarmore”gunlike”thanthefirstthirdpartyWiiZapperwas, and looks to be far better built than it.

Amazon have it listed alreay for $12.99.

1400 Wii’s Sold In 10 Minutes

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

It just doesn’t stop! Not only is the Wii the fastest selling console in Australia. It is one of the fastest things being sold online. With Amazon selling 1400 Wii’s for 300 pounds online, in just 10 minutes. That must be some kind of online record as well. A year on and Nintendo Wii’s are still in such high demand. I wonder how long this high demand for the Wii will last, could we see it like this in the lead up to Christmas next year?

It is quite possible, since we are at the stage now where developers have had a good amount of time to play with the Wii see what it can and can’t do. They are at the stage where they are making optimum use of the controls (take Metroid Prime 3 for example) the controls are just amazing. The way you have to use the Wii remote to open doors is fantastic and the kind of innovative gaming the Wii has brought about.

I think this may just be the beginning, I am sure Nintendo will bring out newer Wii’s in the years to come that will build apon the current control system, with more accurate sensors, better graphics system.

Wii Fastest Selling Console To Reach 200k

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

The Nintendo Wii is the fastest selling console in Australia, it reached the record of 200,000 units in 50 weeks. According to an article by Australian IT news. The PS3 and the DS both took 55 weeks to sell 200,000 units.

That is quite a feat, but it does leave me thinking only 200,000 I would of expected the Wii to of sold way more units in Australia given our population. However somestillsaythatWii’s are still commonly out of stock so it could be a case that this is all that has been supplied to us as well. I guess that it is also early days in the Wii’s life.

Well done Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy No Longer Number 1

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Galaxy Second Place.

After being the number one game for a short while Super Mario Galaxy has fallen a spot back to number two. This was caused by some new reviews being updated to the rankings pulling the game down.

I am yet to play the game but it sounds like it will be well worth getting. Release date for it in Australia is 29th of November, so next week when I pick it up I and play through it perhaps it will impress me enough to score a good review 😛

TreMusic allows you to easily interact with your favourite multimedia player through binds within Tremulous. TreMusic will eventually allow you to skip song, change volume, pause songs, resume songs, load play lists and do all other sorts of funky stuff from within Tremulous.

TreMusic was spawned as an idea on the Tremdownunder forums as older music swapping programmes were either too difficult to use or did not work well enough.

Danmal one of the forum members decided that he could do a much better job than the present programmes out there. He set off to create his own programme for swapping songs within the Tremulous game.

There are two versions of the programme, a Linux version and a Windows version and they both run on the Python framework. Which means for us Linux users we don’t have to do anything to get it up and running.

Onceyouhave downloaded all of the appropriate things (this of course applies to Windows users who need python and pywin32). You can start up the programme. Straight off you are asked which music player you are using (currently only iTunes and XMMS are supported) type in which ever player you are using. (Note that this must be started up before Tremulous).

Now you need to bind:

/condump next to a key in Tremulous.

Tapping this key will cause the song to change. How does this happen though? Well from my understanding the Python programme watches the file where your Tremulous data is stored, such as screenshots demos etc, and when it see’s a condump with the name next in it it executes a script that tells your chosen music player to skip to the next song.

Anyway,Danmalhasposted full instructions over here. You can also check back there to keep up to date on the progress of TreMusic as updates come quite quickly. (Windows users already have a newer version).

CoD 4 For DS, What About Wii?

CoD 4 Title

Yesterday whilst in one of my local EB stores I was rather surprised to see that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is in fact a title for the Nintendo DS. Whilst I was away I did not keep my eye on the platforms the game was coming out for. I assumed it would be the two big consoles plus PC. So I was quite impressed to see it on the little DS.

However, after looking for a Wii version it became apparent that there is none. So how did the DS manage to have a version of CoD 4 yet the Wii missed out? That I can’t quite understand. Had the game come out for just the PS3, 360 and PC I would of put it down to the fact that the Wii does not have the computing power to run the game. Infinity Ward quite obviously nuked the graphics to run it on the DS, why did they not do something similar to run it on the Wii? Was it a case of being too difficult to customise the controls to fit the Wii’s needs? Or was it just an experiment to see how well a game like that would sell on the DS? Who knows. I am rather dissapointed that they left the Wii out on this.

At least my speculation about the graphics being very low were comfirmed from some videos IGN posted. You can view them here.

11 New Stargate Worlds Screenshots

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

11 New screenshots have been added to the Stargate Worlds, gallery. This game is certainly shapping up to be a great MMO, the screenshots so far look amazing. The question is though how will it compete against the big rollers of the MMORPG genre? (That of course being WoW)

Whilst I am at it I will give you a few links for a quick recap of what progress has been made on Stargate Worlds since my blogging break.

Now one of the most ground breaking news items is that we have a release date for Stargate Worlds, the fourth quarter of 2008. So only a year to wait. You can read more about this over at mmosite.

Some more great information about the game also recently surfaced over at mmosite. also had a recent interview with several of the key developers of the upcoming title. Read about it here.
