Sauce The Game Is Finished

November 13th, 2008

Yes I have decided that it is time to pull the plug on Sauce The Game, as hard as this was for me to do because something makes me want to keep producing the episodes, however I have at the same time lost the interest in doing so. Partly due to the huge amount of work involved with producing the episodes, some of which I mentioned in this post.

Thanks very much to those of you who watched the show and commented it.

Sauce The Game First Month Success

February 17th, 2008

I am very very pleased with how Sauce The Game has done for the first month. Nearly 3000 visitors 4600 page views and the two episodes released have had in excess of 2700 views. Not bad for a first month attempt. Subscribers reached a peak of 64 (dropped off today since it’s the weekend).

The feedback and supportive e-mails I have received has been fantastic, these are the kinds of things that keep motivating me to produce the episodes and experiment in making the episodes of a higher quality.

Hopefully this early developing growth will continue into the next month as I release more episodes and enhance the quality of the video footage.

Site Status

January 26th, 2008

Ok so when I last posted that the site was back online, it was back online, however not to the extent that I was hoping for as older posts were no longer working. But they were all in the manage posts section so I decided to export the blog via WP then re-import the data via WP.

This time things worked out fine, except I was wondering why posts were not working properly when coming from google etc, the problem turned out to be that I had not told the new WP to have the post permalink as www.the1qwerty.com/post-title. After I edited that things are back working as normal.

I just have to get the theme back up and RSS going out via Feedburner and then all will be good.

Site Back Online

January 24th, 2008

After moving The1Qwerty.com to another registrar and host, I had some problems as I backed up the database on an older WP version, thinking I could just import it. However WP backed it up as a sql file and not the format that the latest WP uses.

So I had to import the file via phpMyAdmin, where I managed to over write the database for Saucethegame.com. (Was linking to the1qwerty.com for some reason) Fortunately I was able to roll back the database and had fixed up saucethegame.com

Then I had a couple of other issues removing WP and then reinstalling. Got that all worked out. Which then lead my to import my database into phpMyAdmin properly.

The important thing is the site is back and everything is just the way it should be. (Well in terms of data, just need to change the theme to have my subscribe via RSS pictures.)

Happy Belated Birthday The1Qwerty

January 19th, 2008

Yes it just dawned on me the other day (I missed it with the excitement of Sauce The Game) that The1Qwerty.com is a year old. I must say that it is interesting to look back over the articles at the things that were happening in the gaming world during 2007. (Although I did miss a large amount of it for schooling purposes which I can say paid off well).

So Happy Birthday The1Qwerty.com!

Sauce The Game Launches

January 17th, 2008

I did hint towards the end of last year that I was planning on rolling out a few projects in the new year. Well one of them is out now. Sauce The Game is a new free online video show dedicated to showing off Open Source games, with one game per episode. The first episode stars Tremulous which is one of my all time favourite games.

Stargate Worlds Trailer Released

January 6th, 2008

The first trailer for Stargate Worlds has been released. If your are not familiar with Stargate Worlds, it is an up and coming MMORPG based in the Stargate universe, due to be released in the last quarter of the year.

You can view the trailer over at GameSpot.

My only disappointment with what I see is that the humans have some weird suit, which has never been used in a Stargate episode before, and looks futuristic, whereas the Stargate universe is based on the present day. The explosion that takes place behind the gate is nothing flash either, I guess that they still have time to tweak things before the launch of the game.

Other than that it’s not a bad trailer and it’s great to see some video rather than just screen shots.

Virtual Console Gift Feature

December 10th, 2007

A new feature for the VC on the Wii will be unvailed tonight in the US. The new feature will give Wii owners the opportunity to purchase VC titles for their friends and give them to them as a gift. You will only be able to give gifts to people who you have swapped Wii friend codes with (which makes perfect sense for obvious reasons).

This is quite a neat little feature Nintendo are rolling out, and it’s just in time for Christmas.

NVIDIA 9 Series Out February?

December 2nd, 2007

Engadget have reported on news from Digitimes that the NVIDIA 9 series of graphics cards are to be released in February 2008 after the Lunar New Year.

GeForce 9 series will include the D9E — a “high-end product that adopts 65-nanometer manufacturing,” supports DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 — and the mid-range D9P, which will supposedly adopt 55-nanometer processing.

Although the D9P will not be released until later in the year around June.

This is however, not confirmed yet and I would still be waiting for an official word from NVIDIA as to when it will be released. I would not be surprised if it is not even called the 9 series as it could be confused with Radeon 9800 cards etc.
